Become an HRVH Partner

The success of Hudson River Valley Heritage (HRVH) is the result of a formal partnership between the Southeastern NY Library Resources Council (Southeastern) and its member organizations. Membership and participation in HRVH is open to any cultural heritage organization in the following counties of New York State: Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, and Westchester.

Partner organizations have full control over the development and maintenance of their digital collections. Southeastern supports members by providing the technological infrastructure, training, documentation and tools needed to build robust digital collections. This collaborative approach greatly reduces the cost of digitization.

Why consider digitizing for online access?

  • Increase awareness of your collections.
  • Engage new audiences and encourage new scholarship.

Why go with HRVH? Aren’t there free tools online?

Yes, there are free tools, and for some organizations, that is the best choice. However, if you want a high-quality digital collection on a platform that goes beyond simple photo sharing, the costs start to multiply. When your collection is ready for the next level, the HRVH service gives you access to software, web hosting, server space, training, scanners, and documentation at a price that is much less expensive than what it would cost you to host your own digital repository. In addition, you will be part of a collaborative group of local HRVH users who offer experience, support, and cross-promotion of materials.

HRVH Participation Fees

As a non-profit organization with a mission to support members and enhance access to information for users, HRVH and Southeastern strive to keep prices as low as possible. HRVH partners join by becoming members of Southeastern in one of three categories:

Membership dues must be paid annually to participate in the HRVH service.
In addition, there is a one‐time start‐up fee of $500 for all members. (This supports the initial start-up costs of training, print documentation, collection set-up, and server space.)
Additional annual service and hosting fee based on number of files in collection:
1‐250 Files:     $50/year
251‐1000:        $150/year
1001‐5000:      $250/year
